FDM vs Resin 3D Printing

FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) and SLA/resin printing are the two most common 3D printing technologies available today.

FDM Printing

FDM melts thermoplastic filament and deposits it layer by layer. It is great for functional parts, large models, and structural components. Common materials include PLA, PETG, ABS, and TPU.

Resin Printing

Resin printing uses UV light to cure liquid resin. It produces ultra-smooth surfaces with fine details — ideal for figurines, jewellery casting, and display models.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose FDM for: brackets, enclosures, drone parts, large prototypes, and anything that needs to be tough.
  • Choose Resin for: figurines, miniatures, dental models, jewellery patterns, and anything where surface finish matters.
  • Not sure? Send us a message on WhatsApp and we will recommend the best option for your project.
