Rapid Prototyping in Sri Lanka

Turn your CAD or idea into a physical prototype in days — then iterate fast.

Rapid prototyping lets you hold, test and refine a design before committing to production. Instead of weeks of tooling, you get a real part in days and can iterate cheaply between revisions.

Print Aura LK helps startups, engineers and product designers across Sri Lanka move from concept to working prototype quickly, using FDM for functional testing and resin for detailed form models.

Why choose this service

Days, not weeks

Most prototypes print within 24–72 hours per revision.

Iterate cheaply

Refine and reprint without expensive tooling.

Right process

FDM for fit and function, resin for detail and appearance.

Confidential

Your designs and files stay private.

What it's good for

Why prototype with 3D printing?

Traditional prototyping in Sri Lanka means either importing parts (weeks of lead time and customs) or committing to tooling before the design is proven. 3D printing removes both problems: you hold a physical part within days, test it in the real world, fix what's wrong and print the next revision — often for less than the courier cost of an imported sample.

The teams that get the most out of prototyping iterate: revision two is where the design actually starts working, and revision three is where it gets good. Because each print is cheap, you can afford to be wrong early — which is the whole point of prototyping.

Our prototyping process

  • Send your CAD — STEP, STL, OBJ or 3MF, straight from Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape or any CAD tool
  • Printability review — we flag thin walls, weak points, tolerance risks and cheaper orientations before printing
  • Process match — FDM in PLA/PETG/ABS for fit-and-function testing; resin for fine detail and appearance models
  • Print in 24–72 hours — most single prototypes are ready within three days of quote approval
  • Iterate — revise the CAD, reprint only what changed, repeat until it's right

Confidentiality and pricing

Your designs stay private — files are used only to produce your parts and are never shared or reused. Prototype pricing follows our standard rates (small parts from LKR 350, larger functional parts LKR 2,000–8,000), and repeat revisions of the same part are quoted quickly since setup is already done. Startups and student teams: tell us your budget and we'll suggest the most economical material and settings that still answer your design question.

What does a prototype cost in Sri Lanka?

Far less than most teams expect. A palm-sized functional prototype in PLA typically lands between LKR 800 and 3,000; a larger enclosure or housing runs LKR 2,000–8,000. Compare that with importing a one-off sample — courier fees alone often exceed the print cost, before customs and two weeks of waiting.

Iteration is where local printing really wins: three revisions of a part printed here usually costs less than one imported sample, and each revision is in your hands within days. Send your CAD for a free itemised quote within 24 hours, and tell us if you're testing fit, strength or looks — we'll suggest the cheapest settings that answer that question.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can I get a prototype in Sri Lanka?

Most single prototypes print within 24–72 hours of approving the quote, then ship island-wide in 1–3 days. Rush options are available for tight deadlines.

Can you help improve my design for printing?

Yes. We flag thin walls, weak points and printability issues before printing, and can suggest changes to make the part stronger or cheaper.
