Why resin beats FDM for detail
Resin printers cure liquid photopolymer with UV light at layer heights around 0.05 mm — roughly four times finer than typical FDM. That's the difference between a figurine whose face is a suggestion and one where you can see the expression, hair strands and fabric folds. Surfaces come off the printer smooth enough that layer lines are nearly invisible, so paint goes on beautifully with little or no sanding.
The trade-off is honesty-worthy: standard resin is more brittle than FDM thermoplastics, and build volumes are smaller. That's why we recommend resin for display, detail and precision — and steer functional, load-bearing parts to FDM. If your project needs both detail and durability, tough resins are available; tell us the use case and we'll advise.
From file to finished figure
Every resin print goes through more than just printing. After the print completes, we wash the part to remove uncured resin, cure it under UV for full strength, and carefully remove supports from sculpted surfaces. For figurines and display pieces you can add priming and hand-painting — mention it with your quote and we'll include it.

How SLA stereolithography works
SLA (stereolithography) — the technology behind our resin printing — builds parts by curing liquid photopolymer with a precisely controlled UV light source, one ~0.05 mm layer at a time. Because each layer is formed optically rather than extruded mechanically, SLA reproduces features far finer than a nozzle can draw: sharp edges, engraved text, thin pins and intricate lattices all come out crisp. That's why it's also the choice for dimensionally accurate work — casting patterns, dental and medical models, and precision prototypes with tight tolerances.

Detailed resin models and figurines typically run LKR 1,500–10,000+ depending on size, complexity and finishing. Small miniatures and patterns cost less; large painted display figures cost more. Is resin printing the same as SLA?
Yes, effectively — SLA (stereolithography) is the vat-photopolymerisation process behind resin printing. When people say 'resin printing' in Sri Lanka they mean this high-detail UV-cured process, and it's what we run in-house.
What's the difference between SLA/resin and FDM?
SLA cures liquid resin with UV light for very fine detail and smooth surfaces; FDM melts and stacks plastic filament for strong, larger, more economical parts. Choose resin for detail, FDM for toughness and size.
How accurate is resin printing?
Resin/SLA holds tight tolerances and fine features, which is why it's preferred for patterns, miniatures and precision prototypes. Send your model and tolerance needs and we'll confirm feasibility.
Is resin strong enough for functional parts?
Standard resin is more brittle than FDM plastics, so for tough functional parts we usually recommend FDM. Tough/engineering resins are available for parts that need both detail and durability.
