Architectural Model 3D Printing in Sri Lanka
Clean, precise scale models for architects, developers and presentations.
A physical scale model communicates a design in a way renders can't. We print accurate architectural models — buildings, site massing and presentation pieces — that help you win approvals and clients.
Architects, developers and students across Sri Lanka use Print Aura LK to turn CAD and BIM designs into crisp scale models, in FDM for larger massing and resin for fine facade detail.
Why choose this service
Scale accuracy
Faithful proportions from your CAD/BIM at your chosen scale.
Clean finish
Smooth surfaces suited to presentation and photography.
Massing to detail
FDM for large massing, resin for fine facades.
Multi-part models
Removable floors and sections on request.
What it's good for
- Client and competition presentation models
- Site and massing studies
- Facade and detail sections
- Real-estate sales models
- Student and thesis models
From BIM or CAD to a model on the table
We work directly from the tools architects already use: export an STL or OBJ from SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, ArchiCAD or AutoCAD, tell us the scale, and we prepare the model for printing — checking wall thicknesses at scale, splitting large models into printable sections, and planning clean joins that don't cross facade details.
Common scales are 1:100 and 1:200 for buildings and 1:500 for site massing, but we print to whatever scale your presentation needs. At 1:100, a 30-metre building becomes a crisp 30 cm model.
Choosing the right process for your model
- FDM for massing and larger models — economical, fast, ideal for site studies and volume models
- Resin for facade detail — balconies, mullions, railings and fine texture at small scale
- Hybrid models — FDM body with resin detail sections is often the best value
- White/neutral finishes standard; primed or painted presentation finishes on request
Deadlines, revisions and student work
Competition and client deadlines are usually hard, so tell us the date first — we'll confirm feasibility before you commit, and most models complete within days rather than weeks. Design changed after printing? Sectioned models mean we can often reprint just the affected block instead of the whole model. We also regularly print thesis and studio models for architecture students across Sri Lanka — tell us your budget and we'll find a scale and process that fits it.
What does an architectural model cost in Sri Lanka?
Model cost scales with physical size, level of detail and the number of sections. A compact single-building massing model often lands in the LKR 2,000–8,000 range that large FDM prints occupy; bigger presentation models with fine resin facade sections are quoted per project. Either way the quote is free, itemised and back within 24 hours.
Two levers keep budgets in check: scale (a 1:200 model uses a fraction of the material of 1:100) and selective detail — printing the hero facade in resin while the body stays FDM. Students: mention your deadline and budget and we'll propose the most economical option that still presents well.
Frequently asked questions
What file do you need for an architectural model?
An STL or OBJ exported from your CAD/BIM software (SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, etc.) works best. Tell us the scale you want and we'll prepare it for printing.
Can you print large or multi-part building models?
Yes. Large models are split into sections and assembled, and we can make floors or roofs removable to show interiors. Share your dimensions and scale for a quote.
