The most common question we get from first-time customers is simply: "how do I send you something to print?" Good news — it's easier than you think, and you don't need to be a 3D designer. Here's everything you need to know to get a print-ready file to us.

What file formats do we accept?

We accept the four common 3D formats. Almost every design tool exports at least one of them:

STL — the most common 3D printing format. If in doubt, send STL.
OBJ — common for models with colour or texture information.
STEP / STP — precise engineering format from CAD software, great for functional parts.
3MF — a modern format that stores the model plus settings in one file.

Option 1: You already have a file

If someone designed it for you, or you exported it yourself from Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Tinkercad, Blender or similar, just send it over. Export as STL or STEP and you're done — don't worry about print settings, orientation or supports, we handle all of that.

Option 2: You don't have a file — download one

You don't need to design anything. Free model libraries hold millions of ready-to-print designs:

Printables (printables.com) — huge, high-quality, free
Thingiverse (thingiverse.com) — the original, enormous library
MakerWorld (makerworld.com) — newer, excellent quality

Find what you want, download the STL, and send it to us. Want a phone stand, a planter, a replacement knob, a board-game insert? It almost certainly already exists.

Option 3: You only have an idea or a photo

No file and nothing to download? We offer 3D modelling. Describe the object or send reference photos — a broken part with measurements, a character you want as a figurine, a logo — and we'll design a printable model for you before printing. What makes a good print-ready model?

If you're exporting your own design, a few quick checks save time and money:

Watertight ("manifold") mesh — no holes or gaps in the surface. Most CAD tools export this correctly.
Walls at least 1.2 mm thick — thinner walls may not print reliably in FDM.
Real-world scale — export in millimetres so the size is unambiguous; tell us the intended height if unsure.
Detail suited to the process — ultra-fine detail belongs in resin; FDM has visible layer lines.

Don't stress about getting these perfect — when you send a file, we review it for printability and flag any issues (thin walls, weak points, scale) before printing, and suggest fixes.
